Which is why here are a few tips to take care of your skin at home with the help of the ingredients that you will find in your pantry! 

First of all, it is important to remember that doing these DIY’s alone won’t get you to glass skin. You still need to drink adequate amounts of water, exercise regularly, and take care of your mental and physical health.

FOR DRY SKIN

Dry skin doesn’t have very active sebaceous glands and the pores are minimally visible. This skin type is less prone to acne. It’s important to keep dry skin hydrated. Also, avoid over-exfoliation of dry skin. 

Masks for dry skin –

1 egg 

1 teaspoon honey 

½ teaspoon olive oil

Few drops of rose water

This mask is loaded with nourishing and soothing ingredients, perfect for dry skin.

  1. Avocado pulp + few drops of glycerin. Avocado has healthy fat content, and glycerin is a humectant.
  2. Two tablespoons yoghurt + ½ teaspoon honey.
  3. 1 tablespoon Sandalwood powder + 1 tablespoon rosewater. This mask will soothe skin irritation.

Mix these ingredients, and apply the mask on your face. Leave it on for a few minutes, then wash your face and pat the skin dry. 

FOR OILY SKIN

This skin type has very active sebaceous glands. The boys are visible type is Oily skin is very prone to blackheads, whiteheads and acne. 

One common myth is that people with oily skin don’t need moisturizer. They absolutely do! However, they need to use a lightweight, water-based moisturizer. 

MASKS FOR OILY SKIN

  1. Fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) + water. Fuller’s earth acts like a magnet to pull out impurities.
  2. 2 Tbsp dried orange peel powder + 1 tbsp yoghurt. 
  3. 1 teaspoon bentonite clay + 1 tablespoon witch hazel. Witch hazel is a miracle ingredient for oily skin.
  4. Squeeze out the juice from a tomato and apply it to your face. Tomato has astringent properties.

Mix these ingredients, and apply the mask on your face. Leave it on for a few minutes, then wash your face and pat the skin dry. I personally use this homemade skin care recipes.

FOR COMBINATION SKIN

Apply the masks suggested for oily skin on your T-zone, and the ones suggested for dry skin on the rest of your face. 

FOR NORMAL SKIN

Normal skin is neither oily nor dry. Proper skincare is essential to maintain it that way, and to prevent it from looking dull. 

MASK FOR NORMAL SKIN

1tbsp oatmeal powder + warm milk

Who would have thought that this breakfast item wakes your skin up too? Application of this mask instantly gives the skin a pick me up.

FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Sensitive skin is more of a condition and less of a skin type. It is very prone to redness, inflammation and reaction to products.

MASKS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

These masks can be used by other skin types as well.

-> 2 tbsp gram flour + few drops of lemon + a small pinch of turmeric + milk

This mask is a hero. It is full of wonderful ingredients! Gram flour contains zinc, to soothe the skin. lemon is a natural brightening agent. Turmeric is an anti-septic. Milk makes the skin supple. 

-> Calamine + rose water. Calamine relieves skin irritations and protects the skin from sun damage. Rosewater is a natural toner. 

Mix these ingredients, and apply the mask on your face. Leave it on for a few minutes, then wash your face and pat the skin dry. Hope you like these homemade skin care recipes.
