Insight cosmetics is a brand that is owned by VOV. The brand provides good quality makeup that is Vegan and cruelty free and that too at a very low price. VOV has been around since the 80s. THE GOOD SIDE
Insight cosmetics Ultra Matte long wear lipstick is priced at 175 rupees which is super affordable for a long wear matte lipstick. The ingredients label shows that the lipstick is full of enriching ingredients like lanolin wax and carnauba wax. So people who have dry lips or people who have the fear of getting their lips chapped can wear this lipstick comfortably without feeling dry. There is no feathering around the lips either.
4.2 grams is a great amount of product for the price point. The colour payoff is good and one swipe is enough. There are 12 shades in the collection. These include nudes, browns, reds, and pink shades. I found the shade range quite impressive. It is a good thing that this lipstick does not have any irritating odour which is good for people who get migraines by strong odours.
The packaging is silver in colour with a transparent cap that secures firmly without falling off. The packaging is sleek and travel friendly. The lipstick is super comfortable to wear and there is no need to apply lip balm before applying it.
THE BAD SIDE
I don’t have very big lips. I have a variety of foods and beverages as well. So It is hard for me to find a lipstick that actually stays on my lips throughout the day. So when I saw that this lipstick is supposed to be a long wear one which stays on for 10 hours I was pretty excited to try out. However, it transferred on the cup of my morning coffee, leaving that pink sliver on my inner waterline. And it completely vanished after I ate a full meal. The most disappointing thing about this lipstick is that the brand states that it is paraben free. However the ingredient list clearly says that the lipstick contains parabens. So if you are particular about that kind of stuff, this lipstick is probably not for you.
Another claim that the brand fails to comply with is that they say the lipstick has an ultra matte texture when it actually gives a creamy, satin finish. Also, the lipstick is not transfer resistant or smudge proof, it stains. The lipstick sets into the creases of the lips making them visible. Also, the shades are definitely not what they look like in real life as they are shown on Nykaa. A good idea is to refer to arm/lip swatches that people have done before buying.
OVERALL
