“than gai! maut se than gai!

joojhane ka mera irada na tha,
mod par milenge isaka vaada na tha,

raasta rok kar vah khadee ho gaee,
yoon laga jindagee se badee ho gaee.

maut ki umar kya hai? do pal bhi nahi,
zindagi silsila, aaj kal ki nahin.

main jee bhar jiya, main man se maroon, laut ke aaoonga, kuch se kyun daroon?

too dabe paanv, choree-chhipe se na aa, saamane vaar kar phir mujhe aajama.

maut se bekhabar, zindagi ka safar,
sham har suramee, raat banshee ka svar.

baat aisee nahin ki koi gam hee nahin, dard apne-parae kuchh kam bhee nahin.

pyaar itna paraayon se mujhko mila,
na apnon se baaqi hai koi gila.

har chunauti se do haath mainne kie,
aandhiyon mein jalte hain bujhate die.”
